The Save Our Kids Salmon Make Appearances Throughout BC
The Save Our Kids Salmon are popping up around BC looking for help in protecting their offspring from the impacts of open net-cage salmon farming.
|
They asked the Strathcona Regional District Directors to Vote Wild and turn down a zoning bylaw for two new open net-cage salmon farms. |

The Save Our Kids Salmon were happy to see Georgia Strait Alliance board member Darren Blaney and Advisory Council Members Dr. Larry Dill and Chief Robert Joseph at a rally for wild salmon at the Vancouver Art Gallery. |

One of the wild salmon was even interviewed at the rally! |

Later the Save Our Kids Salmon began their epic migration up the Fraser River, taking a moment at the confluence of the Thompson and Fraser Rivers at Lytton. |
![]() |
They stopped in Lillooet for a rest and to meet up with friends at the Salmon in the Canyon Festival... |
![]() |
...and to visit Chuck Strahl's Lillooet office to ask for help from the Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon MP. |
![]() |
Then they migrated on to Williams Lake, where they stopped by DFO's office and gave a hug to a statue of a wild salmon. |
![]() |
They asked for the help of the Provincial Government at the office of Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett... |
![]() |
...and from MP Dick Harris, federal government representative for Prince George-Bulkley Valley. |

By this time, the Save Our Kids Salmon were pretty tired, so they took their first car ride with a friend in Williams Lake. |

Finally they made it to their destination in Quesnel... |
![]() |
...where at the confluence of the mighty Fraser and the Quesnel River we witnessed the culmination of a life of miracles, and the Save Our Kids Salmon fulfilled its life purpose and spawned the next generation. |
|
We will continue to work with the Save Our Kids Salmon to protect their children from the impacts of open net-cage salmon farming until the industry has transitioned to sustainable closed containment technology. Watch for them in your community. Photos by Ruby Berry, Michelle Young and Judy Bodaly (MP Chuck Strahl's office). |
