It's Easy to Be a Steward of the Strait
Do you enjoy being on and around our coastal waters?
The Strait of Georgia is one of the most spectacular marine areas in the word -- one that deserves both awe and respect.
Almost 6 million people live around the Strait and adjoining Puget Sound, with the Strait of Juan de Fuca now known as the Salish Sea. This puts significant pressure on these waters and the wildlife that live here. Currently, 113 species are listed as threatened or endangered, or are candidates for listing, in the Salish Sea - including the incredible Southern Resident Orcas.
But the news isn’t all bad. With common sense, each of us can help take better care of these coastal waters so that our children and grandchildren can also enjoy them in years to come.
You can help by becoming a Steward of the Strait. Check out our guidelines for each of your favorite recreational activities, below. Then Take the Pledge today!
