Green Boating Sea Shanty

Hard work on a boat is always easier with a sea shanty to sing - so here is a something to hum while you're working to green up your boat, courtesy of our Pam Murray.

(tune is Drunken Sailor)

What shall we do with absorbent bilge pads,
What shall we do with absorbent bilge pads,
What shall we do with absorbent bilge pads,GSA's Green Boating program shared a tent at the Vancouver Wooden Boat Festival with the festival's musicians.
Ear-lye in the morning..

Chorus:
Soak up those hydro carbons,
Soak up those hydro carbons,
Soak up those hydro carbons,
Before they hit the water…

Roll ‘em up tight and stuff ‘em in our bilges,
Roll ‘em up tight and stuff ‘em in our bilges,
Roll ‘em up tight and stuff ‘em in our bilges,
Ear-lye in the morning...

Chorus

Lay ‘em out flat underneath our engines,
Lay ‘em out flat underneath our engines,
Lay ‘em out flat underneath our engines,
Ear-lye in the morning...

Chorus

Wrap ‘em round the nozzle when we put the fuel in,
Wrap ‘em round the nozzle when we put the fuel in,
Wrap ‘em round the nozzle when we put the fuel in,
Ear-lye in the morning...

Chorus

If they don’t fit we’ll cut ‘em into pieces,
If they don’t fit we’ll cut ‘em into pieces,
If they don’t fit we’ll cut ‘em into pieces,
Ear-lye in the morning...

Chorus

That’s what we’ll do with absorbent bilge pads,
That’s what we’ll do with absorbent bilge pads,
That’s what we’ll do with absorbent bilge pads,
Ear-lye in the morning!
